Excel to PDF
Convert Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls, .csv) to PDF online, free. This converter runs in your browser: it shows every sheet as a table, and you save the PDF through your browser's print dialog. The file is not uploaded.
How to Convert Excel to PDF
- Choose an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file, or drop it on the box above.
- Check the preview. Every sheet of the workbook is there, under its name.
- Click Save as PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens.
- In the dialog, choose "Save as PDF" as the destination and save the file.
All processing happens in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
What Excel to PDF Does
This online Excel to PDF converter opens your workbook in the browser and turns every sheet into a plain table. Each sheet gets a heading with its name, and the sheets keep the order they have in the file. You see a preview first. The page does not hand you a PDF to download: when you click Save as PDF, your browser's print dialog opens, you choose "Save as PDF" as the destination, and the browser writes the PDF. The print layout asks for A4 landscape.
Once the PDF is saved, you can put page numbers on it with Add Page Numbers or join it with other PDFs in Merge PDF. For a .docx document there is Word to PDF.
What It Accepts
- Excel workbooks in the .xlsx and the older .xls format, and CSV files. One file at a time.
- A CSV can be separated by commas or by semicolons. A CSV in UTF-8, with or without a byte order mark, is read correctly: accented letters, Cyrillic and the euro sign come out right. A CSV saved as UTF-16 is not read.
- A file that is not a spreadsheet, such as a PDF, a picture or a text file, is refused with a message. So is an empty file.
What It Keeps and What It Does Not
- Cell values are printed as formatted text: a number keeps the decimals, the percent sign or the currency sign of its number format.
- A date keeps the format its cell has in the workbook. A date in Excel's default date format, which Excel shows differently from one computer to the next, is printed year first, for example 2026-10-05.
- In a CSV file every cell is text and is printed as it is written in the file.
- In a workbook, thousands and decimal separators are always printed the English way (1,234.50), whatever regional settings the workbook was made with.
- Formulas are not shown. You get the result that was saved in the file.
- Merged cells stay merged.
- Fonts, colours, cell borders, column widths and row heights are not kept. Every sheet is drawn in one built-in style: Arial text, a thin grey grid and lightly shaded alternate rows. The columns share the width of the page, so on a sheet with many columns the cells get narrow and their text wraps.
- Charts and pictures are not included. Only the cells are converted.
- Hidden sheets, hidden rows and hidden columns are converted too, so check the preview before you save.
Limits
- The tool sets no file size limit. The whole workbook is loaded into your browser's memory, so how large a file you can convert depends on your device.
- The PDF itself is written by your browser's print function, not by this page, so paper size, margins and page headers depend on the settings in your browser's print dialog.
- There is no choice of sheets: all sheets go into one PDF, in the order of the workbook.
What Happens to Your File
The workbook is read and converted by code running in this page. It is not uploaded: the page sends no request that contains your file. The preview exists only in this browser tab and is cleared when you choose another file or close the tab.
Questions About Converting Excel to PDF
Is this Excel to PDF converter free?
Yes. There is nothing to pay and no account to create, and the page does not count how many files you convert.
Can it convert XLS and CSV to PDF, or only XLSX?
All three. An .xls workbook and a .csv file go through the same steps as an .xlsx workbook.
Why does a print dialog open instead of a download?
Because the PDF is made by your own browser, not by a server. The page prepares the tables and the browser's "Save as PDF" printer writes the file.
